Civil Team Profile

The Civil Team aims to provide an efficient and professional service, adapted to the needs of both professional and lay clients.  Chambers has a strong tradition in civil litigation and offers particular expertise in the field of personal injury, negligence, contract, property, chancery, commercial, employment and housing.

Work is undertaken in the High Court, County Court, Tribunals, Inquests and Public Inquiries.  Our building is well suited to holding mediations and joint conferences.

Personal Injury

We have 9 barristers (all members of the PIBA) who undertake all aspects of PI work, from routine infant settlements to fatal accident claims, from RTAs to industrial diseases.  Much of the work is done on CFA.

Property, chancery and commercial

Areas covered include:

  • Inheritance Act claims and wills and trusts
  • Landlord and tenant (commercial, agricultural and private)
  • Partnership disputes
  • Planning enforcement
  • Private rights of way, boundary disputes and adverse possession

  • Restrictive covenant cases including applications to the Lands Tribunal for discharge/modification
  • Sale of goods and supply of services
  • TOLATA claims and trusts of land disputes
  • Trespass and nuisance

Housing

Chambers has a strong reputation in housing law with 9 members having expertise in residential tenancies, ASBIs and homelessness.  We are regularly instructed by Local Authorities and housing associations and provide representation for tenants and homeless persons.

Employment

We act for employers and employees alike.  As well as unfair dismissal hearings, members cover health and safety at work and discrimination cases.
