Regulatory Team Profile

1 Stanley Place Chambers is widely recognised as a leading regional set in Trading Standards and Regulatory Law, enjoying a strong reputation in all forms of Regulatory Law including criminal prosecution and defence work, Judicial Review and civil appeals.

We have a dedicated team of both Queen’s Counsel and junior counsel who have an extensive array of experience in this highly specialised area of law. Members of chambers are instructed by most of the major defence solicitors on circuit as well as by the Crown Prosecution Service, HM Revenue and Customs, The Asset Recovery Agency and Serious Organised Crime Agency. We also have members who specialise in such areas as cash seizure and other ancillary orders such as Anti Social Behaviour Orders and Sex Offender Orders.

Members of this specialist team have appeared in high profile cases, such as the Sporting Icons and u-want-id cases and regularly advise individuals, companies and local authorities. The team consists of specialist advocates experienced in criminal work, providing comprehensive and practical advice to clients charged with regulatory offences. A detailed knowledge and understanding of the law ensures our clients receive clear advice on pre-trial procedures, plea and mitigation, as well as receiving unrivalled representation at any trial.

Regulatory work undertaken includes inquests and inquiries, environmental and planning regulation, animal welfare, consumer protection (trade marks, counterfeiting), product & food safety, licensing (including entertainment, liquor and firearms) and fire control.
