Wyn Lloyd Jones
Wyn Lloyd Jones was born on the Lleyn Peninsula and
comes from a farming background. He studied law at the
University College of Wales, Aberystwyth and following graduation undertook the
post-graduate BCL law degree at Exeter College, Oxford.
He was called to the Bar at Lincoln’s Inn in 1979 having been awarded a
Hardwicke Scholarship and a Mansfield Scholarship. He did a pupillage in a
premier Chancery set at Lincoln’s Inn before returning to North Wales. He has
practised in Chester since 1980.
He is a fluent Welsh speaker and very experienced in conducting cases and
conferences in Welsh.
He is a very experienced criminal lawyer, regularly appearing for the
prosecution and the defence in serious and complex cases. He is experienced in
murder and manslaughter cases, serious sexual cases and substantial fraud cases.
One of his murder cases is a leading authority on adducing fresh evidence in the
Court of Appeal on appeals against conviction. Most recently, he appeared for a
teenager accused of the vampire type murder of a pensioner on Anglesey, one of
the most bizarre and horrific murder cases in North Wales, if not anywhere.
He is widely experienced in civil matters and has a particular interest in those
involving real property, agriculture and inheritance.
A member of the Family Law Bar Association, he specialises in ancillary relief
cases involving substantial assets and has a particular interest in those
concerning farms and businesses. He is experienced in dealing with accounts and
expert witnesses.
